As is often the case for Chelsea and the Lionesses, Lauren James proved the matchwinner once again this evening in the League Cup Women Playoffs England. The Blues beat Manchester City 3-2 after extra time in a thrilling final at Selhurst Park.
Chelsea Beat Man City After Extra Time in Women's FA Cup Final
Chelsea FC Women secured a historic league and cup double after defeating Manchester City 3-2 in extra time in the Women's FA Cup final on Saturday. Sam Kerr gave Chelsea the lead in the 33rd minute, but Lauren Hemp equalized for City just before halftime. Erin Cuthbert restored Chelsea's advantage in the 63rd minute, but Hayley Raso sent the game into extra time with a goal in the 89th minute.
In extra time, James scored the winning goal in the 115th minute to seal the victory for Chelsea. The win marks the club's third FA Cup title and their second under manager Emma Hayes.
